Peaceful living for children and young people

Geneva, Switzerland

The Global Network of Religions for Children (GNRC) and the World Council of Churches (WCC), in collaboration with the Interreligious Council on Ethics Education for Children, are organizing a training workshop on “Peaceful Living for Children and Young People”. This workshop will take place in Geneva, Switzerland, from the 26 to the 29 November 2009.  It will have two important components:

1) The presentation of the manual “Learning to Live Together” which is an intercultural and interreligious programme and its objective is to contribute to the realization of the right of the child to his/her physical, mental, spiritual, moral and social development.

2) The presentation of the WCC - Decade to Overcome Violence (DOV) programme that will culminate in May 2011 in an International Ecumenical Peace Convocation (IEPC). The Convocation will be an opportunity to harvest all the regional peace initiatives that have been highlighted all along the Decade, and an opening-up of new initiatives. With this in mind, the contribution of children and young people towards bringing up peace will be a central component of this event.

The main purpose of the workshop is to equip the participants with inter-cultural, inter-religious and pedagogical tools that will allow them to deepen their contributions to peace.

The Workshop will be in English.
